Serving Troy, MI
Hyundai’s line of crossover SUVs is filled with bold, appealing options. From the Kona to Santa Fe and several others, the possibilities available to you are tremendous. As a subcompact crossover SUV that kicks the lineup off on solid footing, the Kona is a great place to start your research. It is frequently compared to Santa Fe, a midsize crossover that has been a part of the Hyundai lineup for over a decade. How do these models compare in essential areas?
Performance
Three powertrains are offered across the Kona trim line. The options begin with a 147-horsepower, 2.0-liter engine combined with a CVT. Higher trims receive 195 horsepower from their turbo 1.6-liter engine. The Kona is also offered with a new trim level, and the Kona N. It is provided with an all-new powertrain. This 276-horsepower, turbo 2.0-liter engine connects to an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The Santa Fe is available with two engine systems. Most trims have a 2.5-liter, four-cylinder system paired with an eight-speed auto transmission that produces 191 horsepower. The other engine comes with the same transmission. It is a 281-horsepower, turbo 2.5-liter engine.
Appearance
The 2022 Hyundai Kona has standout styling from bumper to bumper. It has an arched, cascading hood, and the roofline makes a steep descent toward the liftgate to promote aerodynamics. The nose has a segmented, hourglass-shaped grille with black mesh. It is combined with thick, black molding that runs prominently from end to end. The headlights are segmented as well. The upper lights include a thin ribbon of small bulbs running at an angle. The lower lights feature three large bulbs in a diamond-shaped port. The 2022 Hyundai Santa Fe takes a different approach with its style. It shows off a tall profile with generous curvature rounding over the hood and roof. The sides have crisp yet minimal accentuation. The black grille has chrome, diamond-like mesh, and it is flanked by segmented, T-shaped LED headlights for added personality.
Features
The Kona and the Santa Fe have several of the same features. These include leather upholstery, a sunroof, adaptive cruise control, an auto-dimming rear mirror, heated front seats, USB ports, rear parking sensors, smart device integration, a premium sound system, a large touch display screen, and other items. The Santa Fe sits higher in the Hyundai trim lineup, with a few additional features. These include a heads-up display, an auto parking system, heated rear seats, a surround-view camera, and more.
