2022 Hyundai Kona vs 2021 Hyundai Kona

Serving Troy, MI

In 2018, the Kona debuted in Hyundai’s lineup, and this subcompact crossover SUV has maintained unrelenting appeal since that time. The 2021 and 2022 Kona versions are both parts of the model’s first generation. Still, they have several significant differences that you should explore in greater detail before making your next SUV selection. Our Suburban Hyundai associates are happy to assist you with your model research and trim selection.

For both model years, the Hyundai Kona is offered with a four-cylinder, 2.0-liter gas engine. This engine delivers 147 horsepower. In 2021, the Kona Limited trim level is equipped with a turbo 1.6-liter, four-cylinder engine that produces 175 horsepower. While this same engine is available for the 2022 Kona Limited, it has been fine-tuned to have a 195-horsepower rating. Notably, the 2022 Kona has an all-new N Line trim level, and it comes with the same 195-horsepower engine.

As you get to know more about 2021 Kona and the revamped 2022 version, you will notice that the entire front end has been refined. The 2021 Kona has slanted headlights with Hyundai’s hexagonal grille. The headlights and the foglamp portals are separated from the grille. The 2022 Kona comes with thinner LED headlights and a reshaped grille. This grille has an hourglass-like quality, and it is bisected horizontally for added definition. You may also notice that the sides and hood have revised contouring in the 2022 Kona.

The interior of the 2022 Hyundai Kona has a few updates as well. These include subtle changes to the center stack, introducing a few premium materials, and ambient lighting available in all of the trim levels. All other interior features and design elements hold steady throughout the trim line. These features include Blue Link, an 8-inch or 10.25-inch touch display screen, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, an auto climate control system, lane keep assist, rear auto braking, adaptive cruise control, a sound system, a push-button ignition, and a variety of additional features that you will love.
